Graduate Minor in Statistics

The graduate minor in statistics requires 18 hours, or typically 6 classes, in graduate statistics courses. Students choose six elective courses offered by the statistics department which are then approved by a minor advisor within the Department of Statistics. The requirements for the minor include:

  • Approval of the student's major advisor
  • Approval of the plan of study by a faculty member in the statistics department
  • Completion of the application form
  • 18 credit hours
  • B or better in all coursework

Upon completion of the minor, students can receive a certificate of completion from the Department of Statistics. To apply for the minor, please fill out this form and submit it to the statistics' department office in OSB214.

Note: The certificate received for the completion of the minor is not intended as a diploma or a degree. You may not count both the STA 5206/STA 5207 and STA 5166/STA 5167 course sequences towards the minor, but only one. No more than 6 credit hours may be awarded for graduate statistics courses taken at other institutions. Transfer credit hours must be approved by the minor professor.
